When things get as wild as they usually do for the Summer
Shootout at Lowe’s Motor Speedway (NC), a driver takes
solid finishes any way they can get them. Austin Hill found
this out at Lowe’s in a wild night that had everyone
guessing.
“I never passed a car,” said Austin. “I just missed all the
wrecks and I finished where I did.”
Hill crossed the finish line fourth, but a dispute on what
happened on the last lap had Hill and the rest of the drivers
wondering who finished where.
“We got bunched up and I think I was around seventh at
the time,” added Austin. “We went green and another
caution happened. I missed that one and I was around fifth. We went back to green again and a caution happened again. They then gave us the green and white together. Two cars spun out and I was fourth. The leaders also got together and right now I am not sure what they (officials) are doing. They said they might be DQing both of them so I either got second, third or fourth.”
Two days after the second round of the Shootout was complete, Lowe’s Motor Speedway released the official results, giving Austin a second-place finish. On the same day the results were posted, Austin backed up the solid run with a second-place finish at Atlanta Motor Speedway’s Thursday Thunder in Georgia.
Later in the weekend, both Hill Brothers obtained success at Lanier National Speedway (GA). While Austin finished fourth in his Legends race, Dalton won the Bandolero Bandits division.
“He was really fast,” said Austin. “I am proud of my brother. He had them by a full straightaway and nobody could run with him at all.”
Austin Hill will be back in action on Tuesday at Lowe’s Motor Speedway for the fourth round of the Summer Shootout as well as the Thursday Thunder program at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
