Austin Hill Battles Hard,
Dalton Tries out Lowe’s for
the First Time
When it comes to racing you never know what can
happen. It’s all about skill and luck and luck just didn’t
go Austin Hill’s way at the Lanier National Motor
speedway on July 4th.  He proved that his skill was not
the issue when starting first in the Legends feature and
within three laps pulling half a straight-a-way on his
competition.  It was bad luck that changed the outcome
of the event after a mechanical failure.

“I had the fastest car,” said Austin. “Then oil started
leaking from the motor and when it was leaking it started
spitting on the right front tire so the car wouldn’t turn.
Then a caution came out and I came in and there was oil
all over my right front tire, so I didn’t get to get that fixed
and get back into the race.”

Earlier in the week, Austin finished 11th at Lowe’s Motor Speedway (NC) in the Summer Shootout race as well as eighth at Atlanta Motor Speedway (GA) in Thursday Thunder competition.

A loose car kept him out of the top five at LMS.

“Every time I tried to pass somebody the car would get real loose so I just had to follow everybody up through the field,” explained Austin.  “Once I got up to 11th it was white flag and couldn’t get under anyone, so that is where I finished.”

As for younger brother Dalton Hill, he made a huge comeback at Lanier in his Bandolero from starting last to placing a well-earned third.

“It was a good race,” said Dalton. “In the heat race I got spun out and started last and then came up to third. It was a fun race and I liked driving it.”

Dalton also placed ninth at the Atlanta Motor Speedway earlier in the week.
