Austin Hill Grabs a Runner-Up
Finish at Concord
Just a few weeks after the Summer Shootout came to a close the Hill Brothers had to find different places to race. Their hometown track was taking a week off and the rains in the south forced them back to the Concord area. The good thing about Lowe’s Motor Speedway (NC) is that Austin has the track figured out, but they were racing at Concord Motorsport Park, a fairly new venue for Austin.
“We have raced here twice, but one time it was rained out,” said Austin. “So tonight was only my second time getting to race here.”
It didn’t slow him down any as he went out and battled hard in the 20-lap Semi-Pro Legends feature.

“We had a good car,” said Austin. “It is hard to pass here so I was just trying everything I could. The #35 (Devin Jones) was blocking a little bit, so I was just riding. I knew the #43 (Justin Lloyd) was going to do something, so I stayed behind. When he (Lloyd) hit him (Jones) I just gave him a boost and hit the back of him. We went off in the corner and we were all racing each other clean. The #43 and #35 hit and I came inches from winning on the inside.”
It was a great finish for the Hill Brothers team, considering they needed help getting to the track as well as help on race day at the facility. The Hill team loaded his car up with the Massey team to make the trip from Georgia and at the track they had to make modifications just to run the event.
“I have to thank Beattie Racing for the muffler because we didn’t have one. We didn’t know we had to run them here. I have to also thank Mayes Massey for bringing us up here. They both helped us out a lot this weekend.”
The Hill Brothers race team is going to the Legends Nationals at the Speedrome in Indiana on August 29th and 30th.
