Another Week of Racing Equals Another Win for Austin Hill in Legends Car Competition
Georgia Racer Switches Gears Between Legends and the ASA Southeast Asphalt Tour

Last week was an exciting week of racing for the Hill Brothers team as they visited three different tracks – Lowe’s Motor Speedway (NC), Atlanta Motor Speedway (GA) and Lanier National Speedway (GA).  Austin Hill competed in both the Legends Division and the ASA Southeast Asphalt Tour, while his younger brother, Dalton, continued his season in the Bandolero Bandits division.  When the weekend was over, there were mixed results with a victory highlighting the week’s racing action.

The first stop was Lowe’s Motor Speedway to take on the third round of the Shootout, where Austin finished 10th and Dalton finished 11th.

Moving on, the boys traveled farther south to compete in the fourth round of the Thursday Thunder at Atlanta Motor Speedway, both looking to achieve better finishes.  Fortunately for Austin and Dalton, that’s exactly what happened – while Dalton landed in the top three, Austin took home another victory in the Pro division.

“We didn’t have the best of cars.” said Austin. “The car was really soft and we couldn’t pass anybody.  Then coming to the white-flag lap, three of the drivers up front got tangled up in a wreck and when they did, I just got under them and took home the win.”

Coming off of a stellar finish at the Thursday Thunder, Austin was ready to switch gears and utilize his newly-gained momentum in only his fourth ASA Southeast Asphalt Tour race at Lanier National Speedway.  Battling with 30 other drivers, Austin battled through car set-up issues to finish 12th.

“The beginning of the race was real good and I thought we had a car to finish top three,” stated Austin.  “We had to start eighth in the race, but we came through the field of slower cars pretty quickly.  Once we got to the more competitive cars, it was a lot harder to get around them.  It was harder because my car would break loose every time I would try to get under somebody to pass.  Plus, the longer we ran, the car just kept getting tighter and tighter in the center and then it started breaking real loose off [the corner].”

Regardless, Austin was pleased with his finish and thinks that things with only get better in the races to come.

“I mean it was a good run – we came out of 31 cars and finished 12th.  It was only our fourth race, so it’s pretty good finishing 12th.  We’ll win one soon though because we have a real good car and a lot of people that are working really hard on it.”

As far as how his recent experience with a full-sized Stock Car compares to his past racing Legends cars, Austin is ecstatic to be making the transition.

“I’m having a lot of fun doing this [ASA SAT],” said Austin. “It’s a lot more fun than the Legends Car because you’re running a hundred laps and you’re just able to cruise for the first 50 or 80 of them.  In Legend cars, you just turn 20 laps and every lap you have to drive hard.  It’s a lot harder to pass in these [ASA SAT], but we just have to get our car to turn a little bit better and can really have something for them.”

The Hills Brothers will make their next appearance Tuesday, June 30th, at Lowe’s Motor Speedway (NC) in the fourth round of the Summer Shootout.
