The 2009 season has been a growing process for Dalton Hill. The young driver from Winston, Georgia, has spent most of the summer fine-tuning his skills in his Bandolero in the Bandits division at Atlanta Motor Speedway’s Thursday Thunder. This past weekend, Lanier National Speedway (GA) was the backdrop for his second win of the 2009 season.
“I started third in the feature and we went a few laps and the caution came out,” said Dalton. “We restarted on the outside of the front row and I took the lead right away and I never looked back. We led the whole race. It was cool to get back to victory lane.”
For Dalton, it’s his third career win and his second in 2009. He already has wins at Atlanta and Lanier this season. He will look to add to that this weekend as he will be running his Bandolero at Watermelon Capital Speedway (GA).
Meanwhile, Dalton’s older brother Austin is keeping busy in the Legends car ranks as he prepares for the up coming Legends Car Nationals at Lanier National Speedway. Austin ran strong last weekend, but ended up with a fifth-place finish.
“This weekend we ran our red car because we are getting our black car ready for nationals,” said Austin. “We got shuffled back in the pack a little on a restart. We still managed to come back and post a fifth-place finish.”
Austin will be spending his time racing Late Models as he waits for the Legends Car Nationals in October. Austin has had lots of success early on in his Late Model career on the ASA Southeast Asphalt Tour.
“We’re going back to Cordele (Watermelon Capital Speedway) this weekend and I am really excited about that,” added Austin. “We ran good there the last time we raced and I think we have a good shot of winning.”
Hill Brothers racing will go for the weekend sweep on Saturday, August 29th at the Watermelon Capital Speedway (GA).
