Austin Hill had a strong car for Lowe’s Motor Speedway’s July 4th Summer Shootout event, unfortunately conditions on the track discouraged his charge toward victory.

“The car was good, and we were making a pass on Ronnie (Bassett Jr.) for the lead when the yellow came out.  I thought that it was going to be good on the restart, but I saw a whole bunch of oil down in turn one and we fell back to third because of the oil dry,” concluded Hill.

Once in third, Hill was unable to hold his position until the checkered flag and slid back a few more spots.

“We ended up falling back to sixth before the thing was over.  We had a good car and I really wanted to win tonight because we were so good in the heat and practice,” said Hill.

Despite his own disappointing finish, Hill was not in sour spirits.

“Congrats to Scott Knox for winning the race, that was a heck of a pass on the final lap,” congratulated Hill.

Dalton Hill brought his Bandolero Bandit #48 home in fifth.

Both Austin and Dalton ran the following Thursday night at Atlanta Motor Speedway where Austin won the Pro Feature and Dalton finished eighth in the Bandits division.
