Austin Hill Sweeps Legends
Pro Races at Lanier
To say that Austin Hill has adapted to the Legends Pro class would be an understatement. In his last five starts at the Pro level, Austin has four wins, including the two that he picked up at the second-annual Ice Cold Shriner's Bowl at Lanier National Speedway (GA). The pair of wins came at opposite ends of the day. One was in broad daylight, while the other was in the cold air of the Georgia night.
“It was good to get two wins,” said Austin enthusiastically. “We had a good car all day long. In the first race my left front tire was going flat. I only had six pounds of air in the left front at the end of the race. I felt it the whole time, but it hung on so I could stay with the leaders and make the pass for the win on the last lap.”
Austin dove in hard on the last lap to get around Justin Swilling in the third turn. It was a last-ditch effort that worked out as he came off turn four with one hand on the wheel and the other in the air pumping his fist as he sailed under the checkered flag.
“I dove low in the turn on the last lap and went all the way to the center before I lifted I was just hoping it would stick and it did,” said Austin. “I don’t know how we won the first one.”
The first win of the day helped Austin add to his points lead in the Georgia Winter Series, which has a pair of races still remaining. The second race was not a part of the series, but the victory was just as sweet.
“The second race was good because my car was loose and I love a loose racecar,” said Austin. “I just drove it hard and held off a couple of charges to score the win.”
Austin’s younger brother Dalton was also in action in the Bandolero division. They also raced twice, but over the course of the two days. On Saturday he finished fourth in the Bandolero Bandits Division. On Sunday he ended up second, making it four top-five finishes in four starts for the Hill Brothers race team.

“On the start of the race our car was good,” said Dalton of Sunday's event. “I was passing the 97 (Evan Bell) on a restart and got spun by the 88 (Dalton Robinson). I had to work back up from the rear. We got second in our class so where happy about that.”
The Hill Brothers race team will back on the road course at Atlanta Motor Speedway (GA) on January 24th.
